Ashtanga yoga

Ashtanga yoga

Ashtanga yoga is a system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009). This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.

Bikram yoga

Bikram yoga

Bikram yoga is a 90 minute class consisting of 26 postures and two breathing exercises. It is open to all levels of practitioners. The sequence of 26 postures was scientifically designed to systematically and progressively work every muscle, ligament, tendon and joint in your body, moving fresh oxygenated blood round 100% of the body, into each and every organ and fibre, restoring all systems. Every posture prepares you for the next one and every following posture gains from the previous one, resulting in incredible benefits such as improved posture, muscle & joint mobility, concentration, boosted energy and overall rejuvenation. The studio is heated to 105F/41C to help loosen the joints and improve the elasticity of the muscles, which allows for safer and deeper stretching. It also promotes sweating, resulting in an amazing detoxification.

The Kundalini is untapped energy (prana) at the base of the spine that can be drawn up through the body awakening each of the seven chakras. Scaravelli Yoga

Scaravelli Yoga

It's a gentle yet demanding form of Hatha yoga, which concentrates on developing core strength through releasing tension and creating length in the spine. As Vanda explains in the opening page of her book. AWAKENING THE SPINE. There is a division in the centre of our back, where the spine moves simultaneously in two opposite directions: from the waist down towards the legs and the feet, which are pulled by gravity, and from the waist upwards, through the top of the head, lifting us up freely.

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa yoga, in which movement is synchronized to the breath, is a term that covers a broad range of yoga classes. This style is sometimes also called flow yoga, because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance. The breath becomes an important component because the teacher will instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. Vinyasa is literally translated from Sanskrit as meaning "connection", we can interpret this as a connection between movement and breath.
